Day 15: Birthday Suit Workout!

Jun
28

Welcome to the long weekend everyone!!

Thank you all for being a part of the Breakfast Club! I've loved the breakfast club but I'm really looking forward to getting back to normal life blogging!! New posts coming next week! On Friday of next week I will announce our Lululemon shirt winner so please keep the comments coming!!

As for me I have finally made it to the lake! I am ready to celebrate my birthday with Canada this weekend! I love being a July 1 baby – always a holiday and the exact halfway point from Christmas! Thanks mom and dad!

My plans for the weekend include:

1. Bake this cake

2. Start reading 50 Shades of Grey … but honestly I'm a little terrified by the fact that my mom has read all three books. I'm going to need to get over that image asap!

3. Trail run through the Grand Bend Pinery.

4. Relax over the fact that I'm turning 24 with great friends, fireworks and red wine!

5. Catch up on my ultimate guilty pleasure: The Real Housewives … pretty much any and every series. So bad, but yet so amazing at the same time!

The Workout

10 Dive Bombers

20 Bunny Hops

30 Skaters

My time: 5.33 rounds (just got Dive Bombers in!)

The Breakfast

My birthday breakfast has traditionally been bagels. OMG I love a bagel. Unfortunately they don't love my digestive system. Therefore they are only a special treat every now and then. I think the best kind are the Montreal style bagels, so dense and delicious.

So, if it's you're birthday too this weekend hop over to The Bagel House at Yonge and St. Clair and grab a Big Twister bagel with their homemade cream cheese. YUM! And I think the BEST in Toronto!

Day 14: Elevated Ham-WOW! Workout

The Workout

Today's workout is a do it with Christie Workout!!

Follow along for some plank, hamstring combos.

If the elevation is too much for you feel free to take it down a notch – all of these workouts can be done on the floor too!

The Breakfast

Ok DON'T read this the wrong way… I'm not saying McDonald's is a healthy breakfast option! But as part of our "on the go week" it's a great feature because I know many people who go here often.

According to livestrong.com here are your best and worst bets at McDonald's

Best Choices

The sausage burrito is a good choice, at only 300 calories and 7 g of saturated fat, as are the hash browns, as long as you limit yourself to two; they are 150 calories each. If you are watching your calorie intake, a healthy choice is the fruit-and-yogurt parfait, which contains only 160 calories.

Worst Choices

The worst choice for a McDonald’s breakfast is the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes, at 1,150 calories. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage and buttermilk pancakes, for a total of 60 g of fat and 2,260 mg of sodium.

Day 13: All About Abs

Hi Breakfast Club!! Today is my first official day of holiday!! WOOO HOOO! I can't wait to get up to the cottage and film more workouts for you there! I'm really going to miss Bod Squads but I know I'm at the point where I'm due for some sleep ins! I'm sure you guys are probably feeling the exact same way – BRING ON THE WEEKEND ALREADY!

Good news – this workout will help get those abs ready for whatever bikini or speedo will come your way this long weekend!

The Workout

50 Triple threat abs

50 Boxer abs left

50 Boxer abs right

50 Pick-up abs

Feel free to repeat the sequence if this isn't enough of a challenge for you!

The Breakfast

This week is our breakfast options on the go week. Today we are at Subway!

Best Option:

English muffin egg white and cheese with bacon

170 calories, 4.5 g fat, 13 g protein

Worst Option:

Mega melt on 6" bread

610 calories, 42 g fat, 24 g protein

The Workout

Today's workout is another round challenge!

Set your timers to 10 minutes and complete as many rounds as possible of the following four exercises:

1. Right leg backward lunge kick-ups

2. Left leg backward lunge kick-ups

3. Toe-touch push-ups

4. Jump in and outs

My time: 9.5 rounds

The Gear

Lululemon Some Like it Hot Tank

The Breakfast Suggestion

Did you know that ice caps from Tim's are made with cream by default?
Save over 100 calories and switch to asking them to make yours with milk instead!

Today I'll be having my Greek yogurt, celery and grapes combo!

Week Three: On the go week

Jun

Welcome to Day 11 of The Breakfast Club!

We are at the halfway point in this challenge! Great work everyone! Remember to comment on the videos – each time you do your name will be entered in a draw to win a Lululemon tank top!

Today's Workout is a Romanian Deadlift Challenge:

50 on the right leg, 50 reps on the left leg!

Form is KEY! Go super slow motion, if you can only do 20-30 that's ok! Do your best!

For the Breakfast:

This week it's all about what to eat when you're on the go out and about for breakfast. I know we all lead really busy lives and sometimes despite our best efforts we leave the house without any food.

You should never skip breakfast! The best case scenario is find a grocery store and get a small container of greek yogurt, an apple and a few almonds. If you are at a big box store needing to eat it's smart to know what's the best from the worst! This week it's all about that!

Our first store is Starbucks – a personal fav! Be careful with the drinks here! Best to stick with coffee or straight tea, some of their blended delights have upwards of 500 calories!

Starbucks

Healthier Option

Spinach Roasted Tomato, Feta & Egg Wrap: 240 calories, 10 g fat, 3.5 g saturated fat, 140 mg cholesterol, 730 mg sodium, 7 g fiber.

Honourable good mentions: the oatmeal – just skip the added sugar pack that comes with it.

Worst Option

Lemon Loaf: 500 calories, 23 g fat, 12 g saturated fat, 145 mg cholesterol, 390 mg sodium, .5 g fiber.

Honourable bad mentions: the scones are all really poor nutritional choices.
