I'm really not a big drinker, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the odd weekend libation but if I'm going to spend the calories I'd rather have one (or four) of these. So when I do enjoy a cocktail I really only like drinking great tasting drinks (shots and beer are an absolute no go for me!). This healthier take on a classic Whiskey Sour is worth it in my books. And perfect for a summer long weekend treat!
I've made these for a few summer parties this year and have had some rave reviews and requests to share my recipe. Here is is!!
- Juice of 4 lemons
- Juice of 6 limes
- 2/3 cup turbinado sugar syrup
- 1 cup Whiskey
Combine the whiskey, lemon juice, lime juice, and turbinado syrup. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice and pour in the drink mix 2/3 full. Shake for 15 seconds and pour into glasses. Add a fresh cherry and serve ice cold.
Note: To make the turbinado sugar syrup, bring 1 cup of water and 1 cup of turbinado sugar to a boil, and simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. You will have a bit extra (good for more drinks later!). Chill before using.
Happy long weekend everyone!! I'm heading up to my cottage tomorrow, I can't wait to get to the beach! I am also really looking forward to welcoming Matt home after his three week trip to BC. Woo hoo! Cheers!
