Olympsiration

When I was 16 I had the privilege of attending a rowing camp with the great Olympian rowing champion Marnie McBean. One thing I really admired about Marnie at the camp was that she was so incredibly focused and dedicated to her sport. Throughout the entire training camp Marnie gave us alot of great advice. The most powerful piece of advice she gave us that week has stuck with me ever since. Marnie told us to:

Be Better.

Marnie said that the key to being an exceptional athlete wasn't to worry about what everyone else was doing but focus on personally being better -even just by a millimeter – than you were yesterday every single day. She would tell us even if it meant being better at putting the boat in the water, being better at your start, being better at your balance, just make sure that you do at least one thing better every single day.

I've tried to follow this personal mantra throughout the years since and I've really found it quite helpful. Tuning out my surroundings and focusing on my own efforts really helps me propel through my training and business goals.

So thank you Marnie for being my Olympsiration! Who's your's?
