The Beauty Behind the Blog
Fun fact:
:: My sister Lindsay, "the beauty", in her Christmas outfit from me, "the bod" ::
When I first started this blog the initial intention behind the name: "Beauty and the Bod", was that my sister, Lindsay, the natural "beauty" in the family would write post on how to do make-up and more fashion-y things because she is just so much better at girly stuff than I am. I would write the "bod" sections and together that would make-up the website. Well, Lindsay let me take on this baby all for my own but her beauty advice, tips and tricks are still invaluable to me, she's every girl's dream big sister except she's two years younger than me.

Lindsay used to BEG to do my hair and make-up. In high school I steered completely clear of the stuff, showering regularly was my one and only beauty regimen. Then I finally started to give into Lindsay's constant demands and now I'm the one begging her to do my make-up. Nobody does it better than Linds!
Her latest tip is shellac manicures, she's been trying to convince me to do this since the summer but I really wasn't so sure about it. Because I'm constantly touching people, moving stuff around and generally tough on my hands I like to try to keep the paws looking clean. We went to Spa Nails, my favourite chop shop, this weekend and I had a successful virgin voyage!
Top three things I love so far about shellac:
1. Lasts for three weeks, instead of three days… or if you're like me 3 hours.
2. Dries INSTANTLY, this is really good for me because 8/10 I bang my nails and smudge them the second I leave the salon.
3. Economical, a normal manicure is $15-$20, shellac is $30 but since it lasts 3x as long ultimately you're saving money.
After biting the bullet I'm glad I've tried shellac. If you're nervous like I was go for it!
