I love when people write me and say, "you're normal!" Thank you! I really try to make fitness fun and attainable for everyone. I'm not about living a crazy fitness fanatic life, I believe in balance! Let's have our cake and do a burpee too!
I haven’t always been the picture of health and fitness. In high school I weighed approximately 25 lbs more than I do now. The irony of my struggle with weight was I at my heaviest yet I was exercising almost three times more than I am now. I was rowing crew competitively six days a week and training for a marathon at 157lbs and standing just shy of 5’4.
By the time I entered University a chronic injury from over-training in rowing had put me out of the sport for good. Initially I was devastated but that injury was probably the best thing that ever happened to me!
Never before had I understood the concept of balance. I took what I was taught in my kinesiology degree and applied it to my own training. I learned first hand that interval running is 9x more effective at targeting fat loss than continuous running! Who knew? I was typically spending 60 to 90 minutes on the treadmill. Now I am on for no more than 25 minutes! I finally realized how much more effective workouts are when you are smart and specific about them.
In the summer of 2010 I started the Bod Squad and Preston Fitness training. Since then I’ve helped many people achieve their health and fitness goals – I hope I can help you too!
